Lajust is no longer a brand recognized by the WTF

On August 27, 2011, after many twist and turns, The World Taekwondo Federation terminated the contract that certified LaJust as a recognized brand by the WTF. Therefore, the Daedo PSS remains as the only official system.

This news that was expected to arise sooner or later was published these days, by the General Secretary, Jin Suk Yang who sent an official note to all National Members Association of the WTF, which confirms the definite rupture between the company and the World taekwondo Federation.

In the letter the secretary explains to all organizing committees that have previously chosen to use LaJust PSS for their competitions, which are listed in the Calendar of events of the WTF (as the Pan American Games in Guadalajara in October 2011) must contact the WTF to be informed of the policy to follow.

This creates great uncertainty, for example in America, as is publicly known that this Continental Union had confirmed the usage of LaJust brand in many official events. And now with this news, if would be a major fault if any would use these protectors, for the brand is no longer recognized by the WTF.

Here is the Official letter sent by the WTF:

.
Ref. No. 11/706
September 1, 2011
.
To: Presidents and Secretaries General of WTF Member National Associations
…..Presidents and Secretaries General of Continental Unions
…..WTF Council Members
.
Re: Termination of the Recognition Agreement with LaJust
.
Dear Colleagues,
.
I first would like to send you my warmest greetings and sincere gratitude for your continued support and collaboration at this critical time leading up to London 2012 Olympic Games.
As you are aware, litigation between the WTF and LaJust has been under way since the selection by Swiss Timing of Daedo as the official PSS supplier for the London 2012 Olympic Games Taekwondo event, and the subsequent WTF decision to use Daedo PSS at the qualification tournaments for London Olympic Games.
Despite the series of legal actions filed by LaJust against the WTF and its leadership, and despite significant technical problems suffered in various tournaments using LaJust PSS, the WTF had been seeking to keep the LaJust contract valid until the original date of expiration, which is May 17, 2012. This was done for the sake of our national federations that had bought and have been using LaJust PSS.
However, I must now inform you that it is no longer possible for the WTF to maintain the contractual relationship with LaJust.
In particular, based on recommendation by the WTF ad-hoc committee on PSS on June 29, 2011, at its meeting held in Baku, Azerbaijan, the WTF gave notice to LaJust on August 10, 2011, that the PSS recognition agreement would be terminated unless LaJust fulfilled two criteria by no later than August 26, 2011. The two criteria were: i) provide an effective solutions for the technical problems its PSS had been experiencing; and ii) provide exact worldwide sales data to the WTF, which data should match with the figures previously reported to the WTF, as required under the PSS agreement.
LaJust replied to the WTF within the deadline, but only to deny the two issues we mentioned for termination of the agreement. Under these circumstances, there was no choice but to terminate the agreement with LaJust. Accordingly, please be informed that the WTF recognition agreement has been terminated as of August 27, 2011. Those Organizing Committees who have already chosen to use LaJust PSS for at their competitions which are listed in the WTF Events Calendar may contact the WTF for clarification of the policy.
Your kind attention on this matter would be highly appreciated.
.
Sincerely yours,
.
Jin Suk Yang
Secretary General.

.
Atentamente,
Jin Suk Yang
Secretario General

WTF World Qualification Tournament for London Olympic Games Concludes in Resounding Success

After four days of dynamic and fair competitions, the WTF World Qualification Tournament for the 2012 London Olympic Games wrapped up in a great success in Baku, Azerbaijan on July 3, 2011.

A total of 15 countries took at least one ticket to the taekwondo competition of the 2012 London Olympic Games through the just-ended WTF World Qualification Tournament.

Through the World Qualification Tournament, which took place at the Sarhadchi Sport Olympic Center, Korea grabbed four tickets for the taekwondo competition of the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Six countries – host Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, China, Croatia and Chinese Taipei – won two berths each for the 2012 Olympic Games, while eight countries – Thailand, the Dominican Republic, Sweden, Turkey, Brazil, France, Italy and Greece – took one spot to the London Olympic Games.

In the men’s +80kg final match, Korea’s Dong-Min Cha defeated Russia’s Gadzhi Umarov 6-1 for the gold medal, thus giving his country a fourth ticket to the taekwondo competition at the London Olympic Games.

In the men’s +80kg bronze-medal match, Greece’s Alexandros Nikolaidis needed a fourth sudden-death round to brush aside a stiff challenge from China’s Xiaobo Liu for the gold medal. The Greek gave his country a ticket to the London Olympic Games.

In the women’s -57kg final match, Chinese Taipei’s Pei-Hua Tseng beat China’s Yuzhuo Hou 3-0 to earn her country a gold medal and another ticket to the taekwondo competition of the 2012 London Olympic Games.

In the women’s -57kg bronze-medal contest, Croatia’s Ana Zaninovic brushed aside a stiff challenge from Japan’s Mayu Hamada and needed a fourth sudden-death round to won the match and a berth to the taekwondo competition of the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Pre-Olympic ended and Korea had four classifieds

On the last day in the Olympic Sport Center Sarhadchi Baku, competed the last two categories (+80 kg -57 kg Male and Female) where Korea was the only team with 100% effectiveness.

During the day the Korean representative combined Heavy (Cha Dong-Min) got fourth place coming to look to Baku, the only National Olympic Committee in ensuring that many places for taekwondo.

A total of fifteen (15) countries were those who were awarded places in the next Summer Olympics.

Neither team could get three places to London, while six (6) secured two nations: Azerbaijan, Iran, Russia, China, Croatia and China Taipei. Who until now have the right to participate in London with an athlete are: Thailand, Dominican Republic, Sweden, Turkey, Brazil, France, Italy and Greece.

Much speculation since news broke of the non-use of PSS, the possibility that Korea classifies its four athletes because it is publicly known that the Electronic Dickies do not favor that country, which is why many commented that after the poor performance shown by Korea in the last World Cup would be good for this team to compete in the traditional way.

Ensure that the PSS system was not used to promote Korea would be a great irresponsibility on our part, but what we can assert is that the lack of Electronic Dickies returned the role to the Referees, and soon after the start this event, we looked past us back years, where we begged a kick to the arm or buttocks of our athlete, is not considered point.

It would be unfair not to discuss the participation of Korean Cha Dong-Min, who proved to be an exceptional athlete, winning all their fighting in the +80 kg division with a really tactical quality characteristic of the great athletes of the nation.

In this category there was no Latin American presence and squares for London 2012 were won by the following countries:

Men's Heavy (+80 kg)

1) Cha Dong-Min (KOR)
2) Gadzhi Umarov (RUS)
3) Alexandros Nikolaidis (GRE)

On the women's side in the closing day of the Olympic Taekwondo officially called the World Qualification Tournament, competed the -57 kg category, and as a curiosity we note that this division took the same podium that the Women's Fly (-49 kg ) in Taipei, China and Croatia and to add the data matches that bring the two twin sisters are classified Croatian (Ana Lucija Zaninovic).

The American continent was now represented by six athletes: The world champion (Madrid 2005) Diana Lopez, who spent in the first round Australia, to fall into second against China Taipei. Doris Patino of Colombia, advanced first beating Mali, then to Turkey and beyond can not in golden point against Japan. Vanessa Vasquez of El Salvador, Philippines beats in the first phase and falls with Greece in the next step.

For its part, Venezuela Katherinn Reyes, Christina Cartens Panamanian, Chilean and Guatemalan Contreras Yeny Euda Carias, could not overcome his first bout.

The final score was defined as follows:

Women's Feather (-57 kg)

1) Pei-Hua Tseng (TPE)
2) Yuzhuo Hou (CHN)
3)
Ana Zaninovic (CRO)

        Feather Femenino (-57 Kg.)

1) Pei-Hua Tseng (TPE)

2) Yuzhuo Hou (CHN)

3) Ana Zaninovic (CRO)
