Lajust is no longer a brand recognized by the WTF

 On August 27, 2011, after many twist and turns, The World Taekwondo Federation terminated the contract that certified LaJust as a recognized brand by the WTF. Therefore, the Daedo PSS remains as the only official system.

This news that was expected to arise sooner or later was published these days, by the General Secretary, Jin Suk Yang who sent an official note to all National Members Association of the WTF, which confirms the definite rupture between the company and the World taekwondo Federation.

In the letter the secretary explains to all organizing committees that have previously chosen to use LaJust PSS for their competitions, which are listed in the Calendar of events of the WTF (as the Pan American Games in Guadalajara in October 2011) must contact the WTF to be informed of the policy to follow.

This creates great uncertainty, for example in America, as is publicly known that this Continental Union had confirmed the usage of LaJust brand in many official events. And now with this news, if would be a major fault if any would use these protectors, for the brand is no longer recognized by the WTF.

Re: Termination of the Recognition Agreement with LaJust

Dear Colleagues,

I first would like to send you my warmest greetings and sincere gratitude for your continued support and collaboration at this critical time leading up to London 2012 Olympic Games.

As you are aware, litigation between the WTF and LaJust has been under way since the selection by Swiss Timing of Daedo as the official PSS supplier for the London 2012 Olympic Games Taekwondo event, and the subsequent WTF decision to use Daedo PSS at the qualification tournaments for London Olympic Games.

Despite the series of legal actions filed by LaJust against the WTF and its leadership, and despite significant technical problems suffered in various tournaments using LaJust PSS, the WTF had been seeking to keep the LaJust contract valid until the original date of expiration, which is May 17, 2012. This was done for the sake of our national federations that had bought and have been using LaJust PSS.

However, I must now inform you that it is no longer possible for the WTF to maintain the contractual relationship with LaJust.

In particular, based on recommendation by the WTF ad-hoc committee on PSS on June 29, 2011, at its meeting held in Baku, Azerbaijan, the WTF gave notice to LaJust on August 10, 2011, that the PSS recognition agreement would be terminated unless LaJust fulfilled two criteria by no later than August 26, 2011. The two criteria were: i) provide an effective solutions for the technical problems its PSS had been experiencing; and ii) provide exact worldwide sales data to the WTF, which data should match with the figures previously reported to the WTF, as required under the PSS agreement.

LaJust replied to the WTF within the deadline, but only to deny the two issues we mentioned for termination of the agreement. Under these circumstances, there was no choice but to terminate the agreement with LaJust. Accordingly, please be informed that the WTF recognition agreement has been terminated as of August 27, 2011. Those Organizing Committees who have already chosen to use LaJust PSS for at their competitions which are listed in the WTF Events Calendar may contact the WTF for clarification of the policy.

El 27 de agosto de 2011, después de muchas idas y vueltas, la World Taekwondo Federation puso fin al contrato que avalaba a LaJust como marca reconocida por la WTF. De esta manera el PSS Daedo queda como único sistema oficial.

  Esta noticia, que se especulaba llegaría tarde o temprano, se hizo pública en estos días, enviándose a todas las Asociaciones Nacionales Miembros de la WTF, una nota oficial firmada por el Secretario General, Jin Suk Yang en donde se confirma la ruptura definitiva entre la empresa y la Federación Mundial de Taekwondo.

En esa carta el Secretario explica que todos los comités organizadores que ya han optado por utilizar el PSS de LaJust para sus competiciones, las cuales figuran en el Calendario de Eventos de la WTF (como los Juegos Panamericanos de Guadalajara 2011 de octubre) deberán ponerse en contacto para ser informados de la política a seguir.

Esto genera una gran incertidumbre por ejemplo en América, ya que es públicamente sabido que esta Unión Continental había confirmado la organización de diferentes eventos oficiales con la marca LaJust y ahora con esta noticia, si se usaran esos protectores se estaría incurriendo en una falta importante ya que esa marca no es reconocida por la WTF.

Estimados colegas:

Primero que todo quiero enviarles mis más cordiales saludos y sincero agradecimiento por su continuo apoyo y colaboración en este momento crítico que conduce a los Juegos Olímpicos, Londres 2012.

Como ustedes saben, el litigio entre la WTF y LaJust ha estado en marcha desde la selección de Swiss Timing de Daedo como el proveedor oficial del PSS para el evento del Taekwondo en los Juegos Olímpicos, Londres 2012 y la decisión de la WTF con posterioridad a utilizar el PSS Daedo en los torneos de clasificación para Juegos Olímpicos de Londres.

A pesar de la serie de acciones legales presentadas por LaJust en contra de la WTF y de su liderazgo, y pese a los importantes problemas técnicos sufridos en varios torneos con el PSS de LaJust, la WTF había estado tratando de mantener el contrato de LaJust válido hasta la fecha original de vencimiento, que es de mayo 17, 2012. Esto se hizo por el bien de nuestras federaciones nacionales que habían comprado y habían estado utilizando el PSS de LaJust.

Sin embargo, ahora quiero informarles que ya no es posible para la WTF mantener la relación contractual con LaJust.

En particular, basados en la recomendación de la comisión ad-hoc de la WTF del PSS el 29 de junio de 2011, en su reunión celebrada en Bakú, Azerbaiyán, la WTF, dio aviso a LaJust el 10 de agosto de 2011, que el acuerdo del reconocimiento del PSS se daría por terminado a menos que LaJust cumpla dos criterios a más tardar el 26 de agosto 2011. Los dos criterios: I) proporcionar una solución eficaz para los problemas técnicos de su PSS que se habían estado experimentando, y II) proporcionar datos exactos de las ventas en todo el mundo a la WTF, y que tales datos deben coincidir con las cifras que ya se habían informado a la WTF, como lo exige el acuerdo del PSS.

LaJust respondió a la WTF en el plazo establecido, pero solamente para negar los dos temas que hemos mencionado para la terminación del acuerdo. Bajo estas circunstancias, no hubo más remedio que poner fin al contrato con LaJust. En consecuencia, se les informa que el acuerdo de reconocimiento de la WTF llegó a su fin el 27 de agosto de 2011. Los comités organizadores que ya han optado por utilizar el PSS de LaJust para sus competiciones los cuales figuran en el Calendario de Eventos de la WTF pueden contactar a la WTF para la clarificación de la política.
